Thieves elude neighbors in a remote area of Placerville, CA,--and steal a prefabricated house.
In the remote and quiet community of Consumnes Acres, a homeowner and his neighbors are dumbfounded that thieves have stolen his house. "Investigators and neighbors say it could have taken a day or more for thieves to deconstruct his 10-by-20-foot prefabricated home south of Placerville, yank a well pump from 625 feet below ground, rip off his 600- pound generator and haul away his 2,600-gallon water tank." Because of the incident, the heartbroken owner is considering gating off his property. "A gate is an unpleasant reminder of the urban life that many Cosumnes Acres residents want to escape. But neighbors realize that what happened to Miller could happen to them."
