A planned Bucktown skate park will not be built and many neighbors are celebrating.

When Judie and John Knoerle heard about a planned skate park on the Bloomingdale Trail of the 606 park and trail system, they started collecting signatures from neighbors to try to stop the development. "The Knoerles were concerned about the sidewalk in front of their home becoming a highway of sorts for skaters going to and from the skate park, envisioned at the base of the trail," writes Alisa Hauser in DNA Info.
They no longer need to worry about the addition of this popular amenity to the neighborhood, as the plan is now officially dead. The lot will remain a grass field.
