A proposed expansion project is intended to expand passenger rail capacity around the Boston area.

"The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has released its final environmental impact report on its plan to expand the South Station rail and bus terminal in Boston," according to a post on Progressive Railroading.
"The expansion plan is aimed at increasing capacity to meet current and anticipated commuter-rail and intercity rail service needs," and "[t]he expansion would enable growth in passenger-rail transportation in Massachusetts and along the Northeast Corridor," according to the article.
News of the environmental impact report's release was originally announced on MassDOT's blog. According to the post, the FEIR now heads to public comment, with a public meeting scheduled later this month.
