Eric Jaffe surveys the biggest transportation infrastructure projects expected in 2016—including projects classified as subway/metro rail, light rail/streetcar, bus-rapid transit, intercity rail, highways and bridges, street design, freight, and airports.
For an example of the scope of the survey, Jaffe notes that the Panama Canal expansion scheduled for completion in 2016 has consequences for ports in cities like Savannah, New York, Charleston, and Miami, where capital investment will be necessary to accommodate the super-sized ships of the future.
