The New York Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) "intends to spend $1.1 billion to purchase and deploy a fleet of 500 electric buses throughout the city's five boroughs," according to an article by Cailin Crowe.

On its way to that lofty goal the MTA recently deployed its first all-electric articulated bus. MTA is planning to 15 all-electric buses by March 2020.

The MTA is including the electric bus buying spree as part of its 2020-2024 Capital Plan.
