On June 15th, 2024, the city of Lewisville (Texas) celebrated the opening of Glory Park/Parque la Gloria, a $3 million project featuring playground structures, a fitness station, security cameras, free Wi-Fi, and multiple trails. The park was inaugurated with an event attended by city staff, officials, and residents. Food trucks and various vendors and organizations, including SignatureCare and Play Lewisville, contributed to the festive atmosphere.

As reported by Jack Hintze, the initiative began in 2019 when the area was identified as a "park desert." Following the approval of the land purchase by the city council in 2022, the city secured multiple grants to implement the park project, including American Rescue Plan Act funds. The opening of Glory Park now ensures that 78% of Lewisville residents are within a 10-minute walk of a green space, fulfilling a key community objective.

Mayor Gilmore emphasized the park's role in fostering community and relationships. He expressed his commitment to creating more such spaces in Lewisville. Parks and Recreation Director Stacie Anaya highlighted the collaborative effort involved in the park's development, stating that Glory Park would serve as an essential community hub. The park's adoption by the Parks and Recreation Board ensures ongoing community engagement and maintenance, reinforcing the city's dedication to building inclusive and safe public spaces.
