Degree Overview

The Master of Landscape Architecture  and Engineering is a dual degree program that combines the design explorations of a landscape architectural education with the expertise of a dynamic, natural systems approach to engineering. This program prepares students to address complex environmental and social challenges, focusing on urban and coastal settings, using the Gulf Coast region as a global model for climate change investigations.

Students will engage in design studios, technical lecture-based courses, and hands-on fieldwork. The curriculum covers regenerative landscapes, sustainable urban water systems, river and coastal dynamics, and climate change adaptation. Students will learn to use advanced digital tools, GIS mapping, and visualization techniques to analyze and represent complex social and environmental systems.

Throughout the program, students will develop interdisciplinary skills in design, data analysis, and environmental modeling. The degree culminates in a thesis project addressing real-world challenges at the intersection of these disciplines. Graduates will be well-equipped for careers in landscape architecture, civil and ecological engineering, and urban and environmental planning roles in both the private and public sectors.
