"After several delays, Eurostar’s newest direct route from London to Amsterdam has an official launch date, beefing up the UK’s transport links with the continent," reports Rosie Spinks.

The opening date of the new rail service is set for April 4, adding a third destination for Eurostar between London and continental Europe. Eurostar already travels from London to Paris and Brussels.

Spinks sets the preview coverage of the new Eurostar line in the political context created by Brexit, but concludes that the business proposition for high-speed rail in Europe remains very strong. An article published by Bloomberg in January 2018, for instance, shares evidence that affordable train tickets spur demand for travel.
