John Gallagher reports from Detroit, where Bedrock, the real estate and development company owned by Dan Gilbert, is set to break ground on what will become the city's tallest building.
The new building, as-yet unnamed, will rise on the former site of the historic Hudson's store, which was vacant for years fore being demolished in 1998. In its place on Woodward Avenue will rise an 800-foot tall, $900-million mixed-use building. "Renderings of the project show a stunning piece of architecture, a shimmering glass-and-steel 'platform' that rises several stories joined to a towering 800-foot residential skyscraper.
