Maglev trains are often touted for their performance in difficult conditions and their use of electric power.

The Chinese capital is set to get a new maglev train. "Beijing's first medium-low speed maglev line is scheduled to start operation at the end of the year, the line operator said Saturday," Hu Ximeng writes for En.People.Cn. Hu argues that this should make the Beijing train system more sustainable because the train track is completely electrified. "Maglev trains are safer and cheaper compared to current metro and light rail cars. Electromagnets and specially designed tracks prevent the trains from overturning or derailing," Hu argues.
This train line would have seven stops and run through the center of Beijing.
