The United Nations is calling for action in the face of a record number of people were displaced—more than half of all refugees around the world came from Syria, Afghanistan, or Somalia.

The Associated Press reports on a newly released report from the U.N. Refugee Agency (UNHCR) estimating the total number of people displaced from their homes around the world in 2015. According to the report, 65.3 million people were displaced in 2015—a total equal to the population of Britain—which set a record for all years since World War II.
The article includes a lot more detail on the data included in the report, as well as a description of the call to action included in the report.
