Mimi Zeiger shares news of a big reveal of potential designs for a proposed pedestrian and bike path across the western span of the Bay Bridge—between Yerba Buena Island and the city of San Francisco.

The Bay Area Toll Authority hired Arup to complete the designs, which are on full, "intoxicating" (as Zeiger describe them) display in the article. The current designs lay out several options for where the 2.9-mile route would touch down in the city.

Though the designs are a big step forward, the speculative date for completion of the project has been set in 2025. Zeiger goes into more detail about why project supporters will have to be patient with a delivery date.
