Rising home prises are pushing more people into the already tight rental market.
Housing affordibility continues to be a major problem in many areas of the country. "Home prices have soared so high that affording housing is a problem not just for the poor but for middle-class families as well, experts say." The housing market, which has not been effected by the recent recession, has yet to catch up with skyrocketing demand, especially for affordable homes. "We have to be able to answer the questions, where are our children going to live? Where are our teachers going to live? Where are our firefighters going to live?' says Nicolas Retsinas, director of Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies."
