Douglas John Bowen reports on the debate about the proposed service hours for the Dallas Streetcar, which is scheduled to open in 2015. "Initial plans call for service Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m."
"Dallas city officials note a lack of operations funding is the cause for the modest service window. But residents note the neighborhood's active arts scene, much of it active at night, makes such an arrangement counterproductive."
The $51 million project, funded with a $23 million TIGER grant, is envisioned as "the first phase of a larger street car network," according to a separate article by Brandon Formby.
