World's Largest Offshore Wind Farm

The Irish government has approved a wind farm to be built south of Dublin. It would generate 10% of the country's electricity.

The Irish government has okayed plans to build the world's largestoffshore wind farm. The $630 million project will have three timesthe electricity-generating capacity of all current offshore wind farms worldwide; its 200 turbines will produce 10 percent ofIreland's power. When completed, the project will help Ireland cut its greenhouse gas emissions by about 13 million tons per year. Some of the turbines will be up and running by the fall.
