A former Gerber Plant in Ashville, NC, will be redeveloped under new zoning into a New Urbanist development featuring mixed use buildings, pedestrian orientation, and public/private joint partnerships.
"Plans call for buildings close to the curb with on-street parking and spaces tucked behind buildings instead of huge parking lots sitting in front. There will be a grid of streets that will have street trees and landscaping and plenty of sidewalks designed to make the area inviting for walking."
