Consider starting a masters or certificate program in Urban and Regional Planning at SJSU!
San Jose State University, Department of Urban and Regional Planning
Are you interested in making cities, towns, and regions more sustainable, economically vibrant, equitable, and beautiful places to live? Then consider beginning a Master of Urban Planning degree or a certificate in urban planning this fall at San Jose State University. The university is located in San Jose, CA, in the heart of Silicon Valley.
The Department of Urban and Regional Planning is still accepting applications for the fall 2012 Master of Urban Planning (MUP) entering class (application deadline: APRIL 1). In addition, we offer graduate certificate programs that students can begin any semester without a formal application process.
Benefits of the program include the flexibility to complete the MUP degree or certificates either as a part-time or full-time student, very affordable tuition, many opportunities to work directly with local communities as part of required and elective coursework, and research assistant positions with faculty. Alumni pursue careers with a wide variety of employers, from government agencies at all levels (local to national), to the nonprofit advocacy sector, to private consulting firms, to real estate development firms. As a testament to the success of the department's students, our graduates won the national American Planning Association Student Planner Leadership award in both 2008 and 2009. A number of our graduates have also won local and state awards for their research work and contributions to the profession.
