Europe's Urban Divide Looks To America

Major European cities such as Paris, Amsterdam and Rotterdam and some in socially-minded Sweden are declining. The upperclass are moving to suburbs and the inner-cities are decaying. As the information-based economies of these cities are reducing the need for workers, immigrants, once welcomed for their labor, are now frozen in poverty and racism. American cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Houston have been there, done that. These American cities are now beacons of enlightened urbanism.
