Fairfax County Virginia has a new program that rewards developers for designing affordable housing to fit in with surrounding (more expensive) homes. "The architectural illusion -- making four $125,000 town houses look like the single-family estates that sell for nearly a million -- is intended to comfort the affluent buyers and others in the neighborhood who are uneasy about living near the required affordable housing."
