His achievements were strangely downplayed during his lifetime, and his best buildings remain squirreled away in the Los Angeles hills.Each of his houses tends to look different from the others because the sites and the people living in them are different...It is this unusual combination of pragmatism and individualism, among other things, that attracts us to his work today."
