The new urbanist community has small town charm mixed with some Disney magic, but not all the residents are living happily ever after.
Built on the doorstep of Disney's giant Central Florida theme-park resort, Celebration was to be the shining example of new urbanism, combining the essence of small-town life of yesteryear with the best of modern-day living. Today the Osceola County development boasts about 4,500 residents, booming home sales and an attractive town center. Of course, Cinderella's carriage hit some potholes on its way to this Disney castle. Some residents are unhappy with the way the school has turned out. Others don't like the way the company continues to control the unincorporated town, which is little more than one-fourth complete.
