Environmentalists, planners, and developers all have something to say about the state's new growth plan.
"Environmentalists are signaling dismay as a sweeping plan to manage Florida's rampant growth goes to Gov. Jeb Bush and lawmakers today. Not all developers are happy, either. 'Some of the builders' groups are spitting nails,' said Marcia Elder of the Florida chapter of the American Planning Association. 'This is a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly, and it needs a lot more work.' Before the Legislature meets March 6, competing interests will lobby lawmakers furiously to get pet proposals packed into bills. 'The bottom line is, will the proposed changes result in a better quality of life for the residents of Florida? Sadly, and on balance, I think the answer is no,' Charles Pattison of 1000 Friends of Florida said Wednesday."
