European 'Microcar' Debuts In The U.S.

A Mesa, Arizona resident became the second person in the U.S. to buy a Smart car.

"The two-seater Smart is tiny indeed, just half as long as most midsize cars on the highway and 4 feet shorter than the Mini Cooper. Despite its diminutive size, Smart has enough room for two big adults, with the seating position as high as a regular sedan...

Smart is powered by a three-cylinder engine and gets between 50 and 60 miles per gallon, ZAP says. With gas prices going sky high, the company believes the time is right to bring the economical cars into the United States."
