Does Housing Mobility Policy Improve Health?

Evidence from studies on housing mobility suggests that mobility policy may have positive effects on health.

This article summarizes existing research that addresses the relationship of U.S. housing mobility policies to health outcomes. Examining more than a dozen papers that review five housing mobility studies, the authors find that mobility has the potential to improve the health of both adults and children. The strongest empirical evidence comes from two studies, one of the Moving to Opportunity Program and the other from research on scattered-site public housing in Yonkers.
