Twelve Best Walking Cities In The U.S.

The American Podiatric Medical Association publishes its list of the top twelve walker-friendly urban areas.

The American Podiatric Medical Association, in conjunction withPrevention magazine, has named the top twelve cities in four regionsthat are best suited for fitness and walking. The study surveyed 125 of the most populated cities and then tabulatedand weighed 20 criteria of interest to pedestrians. Areas examinedinclude crime, mass transit, air quality, and the number of historicsites, museums parks and gyms each city has. The list includes some surprises, such as Jersey City, NJ; El Paso, TX; and San Antonio, TX.
