Starting on January 15, Houston residents seeking housing assistance can apply for public housing through the Houston Housing Authority (HHA). The application is open until February 15, according to a report from ABC 13.

The HHA is tasked with providing “decent and safe rental apartments for eligible low-moderate-income individuals, families, the elderly, and those with disabilities.” The agency manages “a range of unit sizes and building types, such as single-story, mid-rise, and senior high-rise apartments.”

The Housing Authority’s website provides information about available housing types and locations, application instructions, and more. The Authority specifies that a timeline for accessing housing is not available, as Houston and surrounding areas are experiencing the same mismatch in demand and supply and affordability crisis plaguing other U.S. regions.
