The California State Legislature this week approved funding for $1 million to study a light rail connection between Pasadena and the Hollywood Burbank Airport.
The funding will enable a study of the feasibility of an extension of the Gold Line light rail line, operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro).
The source article, published by Pasadena Now, focuses on other spending allotted for Pasadena, including for the Pasadena Central Library and the Pasadena Playhouse, so details on the light rail extension are still scant. The idea met swift criticism on social media, however, including from Scott Frazier on Twitter, who lists the problems with a plan to connect Pasadena to the Hollywood Burbank Airport on Twitter. According to Frazier, adding an extension to the Hollywood Burbank Airport would negatively affect service on the Gold Line and duplicate planning work already devoted to a bus rapid transit connection covering most of the same ground.
