Inspiration for the cause of putting a 25-acre park on top of a 14-lane freeway.
The Midtown Connector Transportation Improvement Project is wrapping up a three-year feasibility study of a 25-acre freeway cap park in Midtown Atlanta, reports Josh Green. The latest round of outreach in the effort includes the video shown above.
The news of the Midtown Connector popped up on planning media radars in February 2021, just two months ago, and the latest developments with the project offer a lot of eye candy for freeway park aficionados.
The Midtown Connector "would stretch from 10th Street to North Avenue, with new surface streets in between helping to weave Georgia Tech back into the broader fabric of Midtown," explains Green. The article also includes more details about the design thinking behind the park in its current conceptual form.
