In attendance this week at the National Conference of State Legislatures, the American Planning Association has announced its intentions to lobby attendees on housing policy.
"This week, APA is engaging with legislators at the state level during the annual National Conference of State Legislatures summit," according to an article posted on the American Planning Association website. "As state legislators and legislative staff gather in Nashville from across the country, we are calling on policymakers to address planning priorities and housing is front and center."
The post references the APA's "Housing Policy Guide," highlighting state-level recommendations organized by the following key concepts:
- Modernize state planning laws
- Preserve existing housing
- Encourage environmental; sustainability and resiliency as critical elements of housing availability and affordability
- Ensure that public and private finance supports increased housing availability and affordability
