Columbia, South Carolina is concerned about the lack of affordable housing in its city, potentially making it difficult for fire fighters, teachers, and more to afford to live in the community.
The Columbia City Council "passed the first policy in a lengthy process to bring more affordable housing to Columbia residents," reports Miranda Parnell.
"The plan would offer developers a tax break of 40 percent if they agree to build an $8 million development with at least one fourth of the homes being affordable income housing," adds Parnell.
