The latest supertall addition to the New York skyline departs from the recent glut of skinny residential buildings popping up in Manhattan. The new building at 270 Park Avenue will have significantly more girth and be filled with offices.

Michael Young has the scoop on the new office building proposed for Midtown East in Manhattan, at 270 Park Avenue. The new building will house the headquarters of JPMorgan Chase, with a design by Foster + Partners. The new building will also rank among the tallest buildings in New York.
"The supertall is apparently set to stand 1,425 feet to its rooftop, which would make it the third-tallest building by roof height in New York, at least ranked among current buildings," according to Young.
A tipster sent Young first images of the first renderings and models for the project. Demolition is already under way at the site to make room for the new skyscraper.
