An interactive map created by National Geographic creates a detailed look at the racial makeup of the United States.
Matthew W. Chwastyk, Kennedy Elliott, and Ryan Morris have collaborated on a deeply detailed map of the demographics of the United States, using U.S. Census data down to the block level.
"Mapping this diversity reveals not just a snapshot of today but the imprint of two and a half centuries of migration, conflict, and prosperity," according to the text that accompanies the interactive map. A few narrative pieces built into the map also tell some of those stories, specifically to regions like Los Angeles, Houston, and Chicago, among others.
