A design competition has been launched to select a memorial for Ground Zero.

"Artists, architects and landscape designers naturally have a technical advantage when it comes to creating memorial plans. They speak the language. But by casting a wide net opening the competition to anyone over 18 who can afford the $25 application fee and meet the presentation format requirements the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation and its jury recognize the possibility that the right design could come from almost anywhere."
