The U.S. is expected to have several thousand autonomous vehicles on the road by 2020 and as many as 4.5 million self-driving cars by 2035, according to IHS Automotive. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Governors Highway Safety Association just completed the latest edition of the Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria, which sets the guidelines for reporting car crash data by law enforcement and other authorities.
