Considered one of the most significant architects of the 20th century, Frank Lloyd Wright is responsible for a portfolio that spans the United States. And that means that this week, design lovers in a number of states can celebrate the 150th anniversary of the proto-modernist's birth.

From the Dezeen roundup:

Examples of Wright's work include the 1909 Robie House and Emile Bach House in Chicago, while the 1927 Fallingwater house in Pennsylvania, the 1937 Taliesin West house in Arizona and the 1959 Guggenheim Museum in New York are among his famous later projects.

All of the above, and a number of other Wright buildings, are marking his legacy with free or discounted admission on June 8. In New York, the MoMA is launching a major retrospective on Wright's 60-year career, following up on a 2014 exhibition on his approach to density and open space. (Among his many contributions, Wright's philosophy of "organic architecture" is regarded as a form of green urbanism.)
