"The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has successfully installed Wi-Fi service in 150 underground subway stations," reports Reuven Blau from information contained in an audit from the City Controller's Office.

City Controller Scott Stringer sent investigators to check the locations for internet access and cell service on laptops and phones. They found the system, nearly a decade in the making, “fully functioning,” according to the audit conducted from June 28 and Nov. 6.

Since then, the MTA said, all of its 279 underground stations are Wi-Fi accessible as of Sunday. Full cell service is expected to be in place by early next year.
