The BBC reports that the Mayor, who is also chair of Transport for London, is backing joint legal challenges from a number of councils and Greenpeace on the basis that the addition of a third runway at Heathrow will increase air and noise pollution for residents around the airport. The expansion has been pushed by proponents as being good for business - helping "London thrive as a global hub for talent, tourism and trade."
Mayor Khan has asked Transport for London to provide further study of the potential impacts from the airport expansion.
