The District Department of Transportation is expanding its experiments with dynamic parking prices.
"D.C. is testing out a new program that aims to make parking in Chinatown and Penn Quarter less horrible," according to an article by Mikaela Lefrak.
"Starting on Monday, meter rates will go up on blocks with high demand for parking, and they will drop on blocks with lower demand. The prices also will fluctuate based on time of day, similar to Metro’s time-of-day pricing structure," adds Lefrak.
The three-month pilot program is a component of the ParkDC initiative, which launched the city's performance parking experiments in Spring 2015.
