The Chinese Society of Cultural Relics and the Architectural Society of China added 98 buildings to the 20th-Century Chinese Architectural Heritage List.

Barbara Eldredge of Curbed reports that China has added 98 buildings to the first-of-its-kind 20th-Century Chinese Architectural Heritage List. "The buildings were selected both for their architectural importance and for the roles they played in China’s history." As the name of the list implies, the buildings are not relics from ancient history, but buildings from the 20th century.
Eldredge's article says, "The structures range from the Great Hall of the People running along the western edge of Tiananmen Square to the Russian-style Saint Sofia Cathedral in Harbin, Heilongjiang." A representative from the Chinese Society of Cultural Relics said he hoped the list would raise awareness of these buildings and the need to preserve them for posterity.
