"The Lucas Museum saga in Chicago has ended," report Patrick M. O'Connell and Bill Ruthart.

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas announced Friday he is abandoning plans to build the project in Chicago, ending months of debate and controversy," add O'Connell and Ruthart. The controversy centered around a lawsuit by Friends of the Parks, which took exception to the political process that supported the proposal. Criticisms of the design and planning process for the museum are also on record.

Lucas chose Chicago over a proposed site in San Francisco after a courtship process by both cities in 2014. According to the article, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti seized on the news to make a pitch to bring the museum to his city.
