The U.S. Census has released data from 2013 that offer planners the most up-to-date data available about where Americans work and how they commute.

"Today, the U.S. Census Bureau released version 6.4.1 of the OnTheMap application," according to the U.S. Census Bureau website. Updates are coming quickly for the app. The current update of 2013 Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics Origin-Destination Employment Statistics follows a June update with the same data from 2012.
In another new release from the U.S. Census, Brian McKenzie writes a report detailing the commuter data from the 2013 American Community Survey [pdf]. The key from this report: "In 2013, 86 percent of all workers commuted to work by private vehicle, either driving alone or carpooling."
