A new Community Plan for Hollywood is making its way through the Los Angeles City Council, to the delight of the Mayor and the Planning Commission, and to the consternation of some community groups.
The plan, the first set of comprehensive guidelines for the area since 1988 and more than six years in the making, accommodates the predicted growth of more than 45,000 new residents by 2030 through increases in FAR and height limits focused around transit infrastructure. Objecting to the effects of such increases in density, opponents contend that the population growth projections that form the basis for the plan are inaccurate and are threatening to sue.
