Some residents of St. George, Missouri, population 1,300, are circulating a petition for the November ballot that would disband their town and put them under the jurisdiction of St. Louis County.
Half of the city's 850 registered voters would need to sign the petition to get it on the ballot. Bob Burns, chairman of the disincorporation exploratory committee, is apparently disgusted with a series of scandals that have dishonored the town in recent years.
"We have had scandal after scandal after scandal," said Burns in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
In a recent mayoral election, many of the candidates - including the woman who won - said they were open to dissolution.
