IEDC is excited to announce the US Treasurer, Mrs. Rosie Rios as our newest keynote speaker for the 2010 Federal Economic Development Forum. Mrs. Rios will provide an in depth understanding of the new financing tool created by the Recovery Act: Build America Bonds (BAB). Widely credited with helping to stimulate the municipal bond market, Build America Bonds give city and state governments the access to funds needed to jumpstart infrastructure projects that will create jobs, improve neighborhoods and provide quality education. Make sure your community is getting the most out of this new economic development tool!
As a former economic developer, the Treasurer can translate the intricacies of BABs. Mrs. Rios has extensive experience in both the public and private sector. Her resume includes stints as the Director of the Redevelopment and Economic Development for the City of Oakland, Director of Economic Development for the City of Fremont, Development Specialist for the City of San Leandro, and Manager of the Union City Redevelopment Agency. She was also a member of the California Association of Local Economic Development (CALED). In addition to her regular duties as Treasurer, Mrs. Rios stated that she would like to tailor her duties in order to help citizens recover from the current recession.
Join IEDC in the Washington, DC metro area as we gain a better understanding of Build America Bonds and learn where the future of these bonds will take us.
