Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke will be speaking at IEDC's Federal Forum, held in the Washington, DC metro area, April 18-20. Get an inside look at the Obama Administration's attempt to jump-start the economy and grow jobs.
Secretary Locke holds a pivotal role in both domestic economic recovery efforts as well as international trade policy. This will be your chance to gain insight from one of the federal leaders in economic development and recovery today. Hear from a top official that oversees a multitude of economic development agencies and programs that economic development professionals depend on everyday, including the EDA, Invest in America, MEP and ITA.
As the first Chinese-American to hold the role of Secretary of Commerce, Locke has a distinctly American story. Locke's father was a small business owner, operating a grocery store where Locke worked while receiving his education from Seattle's public school system. His strong work ethic and determination eventually took him to the highest office in the state of Washington, the Governorship. While Governor, he was active in economic development issues, launching the "Washington Competitiveness Council" with business and labor leaders working together to position Washington State for economic success as well as leading numerous international trade missions.
As a former governor, Secretary Locke understands the issues you and your community are facing in these tough economic times. Join IEDC in Washington, DC this April– register today!
