The International Economic Development Council is excited to announce our newest keynote speaker for the 2010 Federal Economic Development Forum, Dr. Edward Montgomery. Since the economic downturn began, the auto industry has shed more than 400,000 jobs at automakers, suppliers and dealers. A key figure in federal economic recovery efforts, Dr. Montgomery helmed the Labor Department transition team for then President-Elect Obama and is now leading the effort across federal agencies to help rebuild American auto communities. A noted economist who has taken on one of the toughest jobs on President Obama's auto task force, Dr. Montgomery is helping to rebuild the communities that are being devastated by the industry's downsizing.
Reviving manufacturing and promoting exports are crucial to turning the economy around and making the U.S. more competitive. Federal economic development policy is finding new ways to increase the viability of U.S. manufacturing, exporting, and business development in the global economy. Learn from experts on changing the role federal policy will play in strengthening the nation's competitiveness. Dr. Montgomery will keynote the plenary session titled: Rebuilding U.S. Competitiveness.
Join IEDC and Dr. Edward Montgomery as we discuss how to revitalize our domestic manufacturing industry.
