The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) presents the 2009 Web Seminar Series – a cost-effective, professional development program. The series provides an online environment for economic developers to learn about cutting-edge research, techniques, and tools that are prevalent in the field.

With the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) in February 2009, $7.2 billion in stimulus funding became available for improving broadband access across the country. This represents a significant opportunity for communities to enhance infrastructure in underserved areas and extend access to unserved locations. Given the increasingly interconnected global economy and the importance of broadband access to local business growth, it has never been more important to ensure that a wide range of institutions and individuals are able to use this technology in your area.

On July 29, IEDC will host a web seminar to help communities position themselves to receive stimulus broadband funding. The funds will be released in three rounds, with the first round application deadline rapidly approaching in August. Do not miss out on the chance to learn how you can get ahead on tapping into this funding.

THE WEBINAR WILL HIGHLIGHT:
• Who is eligible and how to apply for ARRA broadband funding through U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Agriculture programs
• Types of projects funded by the stimulus package, and special opportunities for rural areas and sustainable broadband development
• How to utilize broadband in your community to increase productivity, innovation, and quality jobs
