IEDC to Offer Professional Development Scholarships

DESCRIPTION AND ELIGIBILITY
We are proud to offer two (2) scholarships to be applied toward the registration fee for an IEDC Economic Development Education course of the recipient's choice. The award value for each scholarship represents approximately $500. A scholarship will be awarded to an IEDC member and non-member each. Scholarship applicants should work for an organization that is based in a distressed community. Examples include, but are not limited to, community-based organizations, Main Street organizations and community development corporations.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants are requested to write an essay (max: 3 pages) which will be reviewed by the Scholarship Subcommittee. The essay should address the following:
• Brief description of the organization for which the applicant works and the community being served
• Brief statement of professional background and accomplishments
• Reasons for wanting to pursue the IEDC professional development program
• History of economic development courses completed through IEDC and other organizations
In addition, please include a current resume.
REVIEW
The IEDC Scholarship Task Force will review all submissions. The scholarship winners will be announced at the 2009 Annual Conference in Reno, Nevada on October 4-7, 2009.
TIMELINE AND SUBMISSION
Applicants are asked to submit an essay and resume by August 1, 2009 to:
