" People residing in subdivisions must hop in a car to drive for the same errands urban residents complete on foot. It is that lack of incidental exercise that experts are eager to examine because they believe the findings could help policy makers grapple with zoning matters and road building." The study by the Georgia Institute of Technology and others involves tracking 8000 participants equipped with Palm handhelds connected to GPS units. " For subdivision dwellers who don't set time aside specifically for exercise, their neighborhoods could be killing them."
