In an effort to continue the ongoing revitalization of historic downtown Cambridge, MD, the Cambridge Main Street Program has retained Chuck D'Aprix, Principal of the Washington, DC-based firms: Economic Development Visions, The Downtown Entrepreneurship Project and The Retail Incubation Group.

Mr. D'Aprix, a long-time critic of traditional market studies, is employing Economic Development Visions' cutting-edge approach to market analysis--an approach he says differs from the more conventional market study.

He says, " Most market studies simply present warmed-over data and are nothing more than a snapshot in time. They do not capture a community's personality. We believe in addressing an array of market factors in order to present a realistic plan for community positioning. Ours is a relevant, dynamic, creative and implementation-based approach."

For years Chuck D'Aprix has been an advocate for "home growing" businesses--particularly in downtowns and commercial districts. To that end, he will also be developing a comprehensive entrepreneur attraction and development program for downtown Cambridge. Mr. D'Aprix says, " It is a shame that so many downtowns and commercial districts waste their resources chasing after businesses they will never attract.
